Arthur Conan Doyle
The Hound of the Baskervilles
Perhaps one of the most famous novels of Arthur Conan Doyle. It is here that we observe the development of the main events not in London, but in the mysterious Baskerville Hall.
Plot:
What is this beast that is killing all the heirs of the Baskerville family? And can the great detective and his faithful friend save Henry (Sir Charles's heir) from certain death?
His old friend and patient Sir Charles Baskerville died three months ago under mysterious circumstances. The Baskerville family, who have long lived on the family estate of Baskerville Hall, located near the vast Dartmoorlands of Dartmoor, have a family legend passed down from generation to generation about a ghostly dog that haunts all the Baskervilles on the moors.
According to the old legend, the dissolute Hugo Baskerville kidnapped a girl (the daughter of a local farmer), but that same night she escaped from him and ran home across the marshes;

Hugo chased after her, but was eventually killed on the marshes by a ghostly creature (the girl died of fear and loss of strength), which has since then periodically reminded of itself with mysterious deaths of other members of the Baskerville family. The ghost is described in the legend as a huge black-colored dog with glowing eyes and mouth.

Peculiarities of text composition & genre features:

In this story most of the narration is taken up by the narrative: how Dr. Mortimer comes to the hero and asks for help, tells him about the mysterious incidents taking place in the Baskerville estate, how Holmes and Dr. Watson begin to investigate, Watson is sent to the Baskerville house to deal with the secrets of this mysterious place.

Here, as in all of Arthur Conan Doyle's novels there is a description: bright, colorful, helping to plunge the reader into the mystical atmosphere.

However, in this text, the events develop gradually, unlike the previous works of this author. This helps to create an atmosphere of mystery and mysticism, since this particular novella contains a plot of fantasy. Arthur Conan Doyle's previous texts were characterized by their real events.
Extra:

In his fascinating work, Arthur Conan Doyle proved that evil is always punishable, and even the most resourceful and dexterous criminal will be exposed.
